27 luglio Thanks Momma24 luglio Stacy's Here!Months ago
When we were looking forward
at when Sadie would be born
And when we would be blessing her
And when we could be sealed
we talked and decided to try and arrange for HMs sister Stacy
along with Kassy (of course)
and Simon (who only HMs parents have met)
to come down from Alaska
We didn't know exact dates
Just a general time
So we arranged for her to come for two weeks
And hoped that in there somewhere
We would be blessing her and getting sealed
At first, HM and I were the only ones who knew
But gradually
The whole family found out
EXCEPT
his parents
Because we wanted it to be a surprise for them
Stacy told her parents that she was not coming
And that they COULD NOT come up either
Told them there were people coming up all summer
And there was not time
I always got the impression they were disappointed by this turn of events
But this made their surprise all the better
Of course, we didn't plan on Sadie being a week late
So Stacy's arrival came a little sooner after the birth that we thought it would be
But still good!
She flew in Tuesday and we all made excuses to be at his parent's house by 10pm
HM and I said we were coming by to look at baby pictures
L and kids dropped by saying they had forgotten something
So we were all there
Talking to HM's parents as the door opened and in walked Stacy, Kassy and Simon
Along with the Beesley's (her inlaws) who had given her a ride
HM's dad did a double take as they walked in the door
it took him a second to react but he finally goes: Oh my gosh...
And Cheryl turned around
and there they were!
SURPRISE!!!!
The next few minutes were crazy
Teagan and Kassy getting reacquainted
Everyone trying to hold and see all the babies
and giving hugs all around
I took pictures
But I had to sit down
You would think I just had a baby or something!
Doesn't take much to make me tired these days!
It was so cute too
Kassy called HM the night they left and said:
"Hello. My name is Kassy (breath)
And I'm coming to California (breath)
And I wanted to know if I could swim in your pool."
She's so cute and quite a percocious 3 year old!
So that afternoon
as promised
Kassy got to come swimming in our pool
Along with everyone else
Except Me--cuz I was sleeping
And Stacy--who was also sleeping
Everyone else got dipped in sunscreen
and had a great time:
And last but not least, my favorite picture of them all:
Don't you hate it when that happens??? 20 luglio Funny storiesWell Sadie is now THREE DAYS old
Seems so short of a time
For how long things seem
Seems like she has been here forever
And already she's changing
So here are more pictures:
My family is here visiting
Helping with the baby and all
and my little brother Wil has spent the majority of his time
doing these two things:
Andre has been a pretty good dog
We were worried about bringing a baby home
With Andre being the favorite that he is
We thought he would be pretty jealous
But so far he's been pretty good
I'm sure it helps to have a lot of people around to distract him
But yesterday
A couple ladies from the RS came over with dinner
And wanted to see Sadie of course
She was asleep on our bed
So we invited them back to see her
And Andre was there
So we said to him: You want to show them the baby?
Show them Sadie...
So he acted all excited
Ran back to the bedroom
And in two seconds
He had jumped onto the bed
Where she was sleeping just like this:
And licked her face
Then turned around to face everyone
Standing by the new baby
Obviously very proud of her :)
She didn't even cry or wake up!
These are Sadie's cousins:
Keiran and Teagan
They had been out of town at the beach when Sadie was born
So they came to see her yesterday
It's crazy when you have a newborn
Because suddenly all the "babies" seem to gain 50 lbs!
Just last Sunday, Keiran was this little baby
And I swear now he's this gorilla baby!
Teagan was very excited to see Sadie
They were at the beach when she was born
And his mom told him: Sadie's here!
He thought she meant she was at the beach
So he kept insisting they needed to go to the beach
To see his new cousin!!!
It was also funny
After we took pictures with them
We were all sitting in the bed
And HM had to change Sadie's pants
Teagan watched
And looked confused
He pointed at her
And asked: "What's that???"
So we had to explain:
Sadie's a girl :)
He looked even more confused by this and said:
I have a weiner :)
Yes, you do, but Sadie's a girl so she has this.
Hmm...
He looked at her again
Then looked at her belly button and asked again:
What is that?
His mom asked him if he remembered Keiran's belling button when he was born?
See, that's falls off remember?
Then she'll have a regular belly button.
Hmm.... again.
You could just see him looking back and forth
And just thinking:
Man, everything seems to be falling off around here...!!!
LOL... so funny...
18 luglio Sadie is HERE!!15 luglio Hello...
So now this is called "wasting time" waiting for my baby to be here, when it's not and I have no plans because I thought I would be taking care of a new baby and I'm not... News on our house situation:
The rental place called back today FINALLY
(I only left like 5 messages over a week's time with three different people...not that I'm irritated or anything)
Anyway, this lady informs me that this last month was the last month they were going to collect rent
(thanks for telling me that...)
And so... who do I pay my rent to then? I asked
Well, she says, either the owner will hire another management agency or collect the rent himself...
Hmm... So there you go.
Who knows if we will have to pay rent or not?
Probably not since the house is in foreclosure
and the owner seems to care less what happens to it
So it will foreclose in September
And then?
Who knows...
Until then the plan is to keep living here
And save the rent money
As a just in case
But also save it for a downpayment hopefully
And see if we can buy this house?
Who knows. Who knows. Who knows...
UGH I graduated May 2007 They better approve them 10 luglio What to doWhat do you do
When you go to the doctor
The day before your baby is due
And the baby has not dropped
AT ALL
And your doctor doubts she will really come on time
So what do you do with yourself?
Here are a few things:
1. Go for a walk
This is supposed to induce labor
2. Walk the curb
This is supposed to help the baby drop
3. Step onto the curb wrong
Causing you to trip and fall
4. Sprain your ankle so bad you can't stand up
Have HM call Dudey at home and have him come pick you up
5. Be up all night
from something besides BH contractions for the first time in awhile!
6. Borrow a walking cast
This makes it feel so much better
7. Wear it all day
Go for a walk that night and be amazed that it feels so good
8. Be grateful for the distraction
That kept you "busy" all day
9. Harvest your grapes
10. Be amazed at home much you actually had
It's crazy what grows in those bushes that you didn't even realize!
11. Discover a huge catepillar
that will scare you to death
12. Take pictures of the catepillar
because it's actually pretty cool even though it eats your grapes
13. Spend all day working on the grapes
taking all the grapes off the vines
14. Finally finish
And now you have another project! How do you make Grape Jelly?
07 luglio No Baby yet...03 luglio You never know what might happen...That was the theme for yesterday I thought
So here is my list of top THREE things that have happened in the last 24 hours that I never thought would happen:
1. We got Andre back
Yesterday morning we got Andre back
I thought a dog like him
Worth what he is
And friendly as he is
Would be lost forever
And we got him back!
2. "Let us know what you decide to do"
That is what the rental agency told me
after I called them
Wanting to know why a guy had come to our door
asking to speak to the owner
And when we told him we were just the renters
He seemed confused
and said:
Well you should know then
That the owner defaulted on this house June 17th...
And this house is under forclosure
So you got 3-4 months left and uh...
Here's my card! I"m a realtor!
Let me know if you want my help!
LOL...
The rental agency seemed equally surprised at this news
But called me back
After calling the owner about what I told them
and said Ya, you're right, it is being foreclosed...
Let us know what you want to do!
UH...
(let's see: not move and not have to move with a 3-month old baby...)
So yesterday
We dropped by a foreclosure/realty office
And I ended up talking to these people for a long time
About our house
(I saw pics of our house on a profile with other people's furniture in it...weird!) And about what foreclosures are going for....
Did you know that in California
foreclosures right now are going for $100 a sq. ft?
So that means that since our house is 1800 sq ft
We could technically buy our house for $180,000???
That's amazing!
Who would have ever thought THAT was possible???
And not that we will, or that it will be possible
But we love this house and it's really cool
Has a pool, a landscaped backyard and it's BEAUTIFUL!
Last year we wanted to buy a house
But it just never worked out
And we ended up renting this place instead
It's a good thing too
Because in that year, the market dropped
And we would have lost money
Where now, if we buy a house, we could get a house like this
For way cheap
So I wasn't really supposed to find out all this
But I made friends so they told me
The poor guy who owns our house
Bought it for $340,000
He still owes $270,000 on it
And it's being foreclosed
And potentially sold for $180,000
It's that awful!?!?!?
Poor guy
And according to these people, that's not that uncommon lately around here
People are losing as much as 100,000 on their property value
Which sucks for them
But it's good for us...
So we are looking to buy a house in the next 3 months I guess
Who knows if we will be able to just buy this house
Which we have always said we wanted to do
But if not this house,
then something probably
And we'll see!
Crazy!!!
3. Finding out for Yourself
It's interesting with Dudey sometimes
Because he knows everything right?
So when we say: you should know this because you might need it someday
Or: You should do this because it might be useful to you someday
He knows everything
So he says: Whatever, I'll never need that
And of course he is right
So it was interesting yesterday
Dudey wants to go to Venezuala
A friend of his invited him to go
And the parents will pay for all his expenses
And half his plane ticket
Few problems:
they just asked him and they are leaving in a little over a week
He doesn't have a passport
And he doesn't have the $400 to pay for his half of the ticket either
So of course we are supposed to just fork over the money right?
Right.
Because we have all the money and time in the world, right?
Right.
So.
Instead of saying NO right off
HM told him: okay, solve these problems:
How are you going to get a passport?
How are you going to get the money?
Solve those problems and you can go
If you can't, then you can't go
We gave him all kinds of suggestions about how
We even went down to the passport office with him yesterday
I guess you can get a passport in one day if you go to LA
So next problem: We have a baby due any day...
who is going to take a whole day to go to LA with you?
It's not your Dad... so hmmm.... what other parent might be able to go????
That's almost a guarentee NO right there...
But you never know!
Maybe his mom will actually come through
Then there was the question of money:
We told him to ask his relatives!
Offer to work for them
Mow their lawns
Wash their cars
Work with them
WHATEVER
And see if you can get like $50 or so from each person
You only need like $500
And he's got a lot of relatives that all live around here!
But ya...
While we hope that maybe Dudey will take some inititive
And go out and get it done
He says he doesn't like asking anyone for money
(besides his dad obviously)
And really, he's not much of a worker...
It's just been interesting with Dudey lately
He seems to be kinda starting to be aware
That there is a "real world" out there
That isn't always keen to doing whatever HE wants to do
And it's not always easy
Imagine that.
Who would have thought....
02 luglio AnnouncementOkay, kids
I've been thinking I should post something official just to make sure everyone knows
I was thinking of sending out something cute
And maybe I still will
But just so everyone knows:
We're planning on blessing Sadie
On Aug. 3rd at 11am
in our ward
Obviously this isn't finalized yet
because well...
She isn't born yet!
But that is the tentative plan
Because then... if that works out and all goes well:
We plan to be sealed on Aug. 5th (Tues)
In the LA Temple at 2:30pm
![]() We'd love to have everyone there who can make it
We'll plan to have a party or something on the Monday inbetween
Because for you Utah people
This might mean you will have to stay here for more than a day
If you plan on attending both
Or not...
but hey, it'll be August
And hot as heck here
But we do have a pool
And a new BBQ
So we might be able to think of something to keep you all busy :)
So just so you know
That is the plan
So you can make plans
Let me know if you have any questions, comments, concerns... etc etc...
So answers to a few questions:
Q: Why not be sealed on Saturday and then bless her on Sunday and that way it's all in one weekend and we don't have to stay a whole 3 days?
A: That is what we WANTED to do first, but turns out you have to bless the baby before you can have her sealed to you so it was either do it like this, or do it a week apart... this is better don't you think?
Q: Why not be sealed later in the month?
A: Schools starts for Lisa and Dudey on August 18th here so it's already going to be a busy time and we figured this was better for everyone who would also be starting school/college. We're kinda working a time schedule here, sorry! If we could have talked Sadie into being born a month ago there would have been more time to coordinate...
