31 luglio I finally finishedSo despite all my procrastinating,
I finally finished my field study for my Masters.
Yes, I did already graduate and walk and woop-tee-do in May but because certain people are RETARDED at my school, I had to be "enrolled" in another "class" because they forgot to enroll me in this class I took before and so I never got credit for it, despite all my work, and so wasn't going to graduate on time, and ya, so I am basically in this fake class so that I get the credit for this other class that I really did take.
ANYWAY
That is that drama. So I couldn't actually be gradutated until this semester was over anyway,
AND I had to finish this stupid field study project.
Six Sections
Four projects for each section
"Evidence" for each project
And a "Narrative" for each project describing
1) What I did
2) How that connects to all the enlightening things I learned in classes I took TWO YEARS ago
3) How I will someday apply this knowledge as an Administrator SOMEDAY.
And if I don't do the Narrative right, my advisor sends it back and makes me redo it.
I had to redo five of them. I was mad.
In case you forgot, it looks like this:
![]() Huge, and stupid and TONS of work that is mostly just BS.
But like most projects, the advisor doesn't want to see all the huge bunch of crap you had to do, he just wants to hear the "narrative" part that you just email him. He doesn't want to deal with that huge binder...oh no, heaven forbid.
When I was doing my Internship, I had to:
1) Keep a journal for every DAY I taught
2) Keep a copy of EVERY lesson plan
3) Keep a copy of EVERY lesson plan materials I used
4) Do a survey of my kids at the end of the 1st Semester
and 5) a bunch of other things I can't remember (probably blocked from memory by now)
The compilation of all this work was THREE binders. All of them about 2 1/2 inches thick and full as anything. I carried all three of those things into my final exit interview, as requested, and all my advisor did was this:
(nodding towards the three binders)
"Is it all there?"
"Uh...what? Oh, uh, ya...."
"Okay, good."
He NEVER EVEN LOOKED AT THEM.
DIDN'T EVEN CRACK THE COVER.
I'm not bitter.
Really.
I like doing tons and tons of CRAP for nothing.
Anyway, so I finished my field study:
![]() Just thought you should see it once more, in case you forgot.
I am FINALLY AND MOST DEFINITELY
DONE. For the first time ever... Yesterday evening, I took Dudey to his friend's house and then went to the grocery store.
I was driving out of the parking lot when I saw this big van/truck thing
and thought, what is that?
But then I saw this sign on the side...
and a door with stairs...
leading up to the inside...
filled with rows and rows of books...
and
realized:
Oh my gosh!!!!
It's the BOOKMOBILE!!!
![]() It's wasn't as fancy as the ones we have in Utah but it was definitely the Bookmobile and I was so excited! I have NEVER seen one of those here in CA and everytime I mention one, everyone looks at me like I am CRAZY. It said "Kern County Library" on the side, so I guess it is just the little truck that goes around but YEAH! The Bookmobile! :)

25 luglio Interesting things1. While we were away, you know, getting married and all, ST and D watched our house and our dog. When we got back, we found a birdhouse they had given us... so yes, they gave US a present for watching the house :) But anyway, HM and I painted/stained it one night and put birdseed in it and thought happily about the birds that would come feed from it. The next day I went out on our porch to find birdseed on the ground... hmmm... so maybe they found it but the wind blew some down.... next day, HM is sitting on the couch and I came in the room and he said: "look there is like 50 birds out there!" And sure enough, there were birds all over the back lawn... As we sat there wondering why they didn't eat the birdseed out of the birdhouse instead of whatever they were eating on the lawn, one bird flew towards the birdhouse, and instead of eating anything from it, it just kamadazied into it, and lo and behold birdseed flew all over the lawn... smart birds huh! :)
2. Why it is that when you got to get your nails done, the people there are always shocked and even disappointed that you don't want your nails to be 3 inches long? Every time I get the french tips, they always act irritated that I don't want them really long. I guess in the world of nails, every and any decent fashionable woman would want long colored nails, right? If all you want is short nails, well then, man, what's the point of doing them at all???
3. I am a step-mom. The other day, I was eating lunch w/Dudey and we didn't talk much while we ate but as we were rinsing our dishes, I asked him: Does it seem weird to you that I am your step-mom? Actually I was just thinking that! He said. I thought to myself, I'm having lunch with my step-mom! :) It just seems weird, he said, because you are so young so it seems more like you are my sister or something... weird but true. I am happy that Dudey and I have become better friends since I married his dad. 24 luglio Family Home Evening? :)So, i would say that most good Mormon families have what is called Family Home Evening. It's Monday night officially and the whole family gets together to spend some time together. You're supposed to have a lesson and a song and that kind of jazz, but mostly it's just a time when the family is supposed to spend some quality time together.
Well last night, HM got home from his meeting and I fixed him something to eat and Dudey asked: "So what movie are we watching tonight? Last night was fun!" See, yesterday the whole Irish clan was over for Sunday dinner and when they finally all left, HM, Dudey and I sat down and watched a movie together. The movie we picked was off Showtime OnDemand, one of our newest toys and none of us had ever seen it and it was um... well, supposed to be scary but really wasn't. In fact some of the "scary" parts made us laugh hystericallly... afterwards we went to go to bed, HM and I, and Dudey came and cuddled with us and talked and stuff. He can always get HM laughing so hard that he does his airless old man laugh and it makes you laugh just listening to him. So we all ended up hysterically laughing over who knows what... something about HM saying some guy was "cute" or something, I dunno.
Anyway, so last night we did the same thing only this movie WAS actually scary and kinda good actually. It was called "The American Haunting" and we watched it even though HM had to get up early and wanted to go to bed early. Dudey made cookies--all by himself and from scratch, something he seemed really proud of, and we all sat and watched this movie and then Dudey said he was scared and didn't want to sleep by himself so could he sleep with us? HM turned to me and said, "look honey, it's like we have a baby!" haha... So we all went to bed, sleeping together in this queen bed and it was the same as the night before, laughing hysterically, and at one point, HM went into our closet, which is huge remember, and closed the door. That closet has become kinda like a dressing room for us, but it was weird for HM to do something like that since the man really has no shame as far as that goes, and will walk around in his underwear in front of anyone :) So Dudey and I both looked at each other and he goes: "what is he doing in there? Watch him jump out wearing something gay..." Just then his phone rang so he was looking at that, and Andre came up to my side of the bed and just then, out jumps HM wearing this black Death robe costume and made us both jump. Dudey put it on then and Andre chased him around the room and it was great fun :)
Welcome to FHE at our house :) 19 luglio Can summer start now?Well I am having a hard time getting going today! I have now been married for almost 5 days :) Great so far! :) haha...
Anyway, the last couple days have been spent moving HM and Dudey into the house and getting everything set up. HM, as our resident master painter, repainted all the dressers, entertainment centers, side tables to match and they look fantastic. Dudey's room is all set up, and I must say, it's a nicer set-up than HM or I ever had as kids, that's for sure! HM made him go through all his stuff and organize it into the dressers and all that so that it's all nice. Dudey protested loudly but did it nonetheless :)
HM is excited to have his son to himself I think. Dudey has a lot of... I dunno, mannerisms? reactions? that we don't like and don't know where he got them from, but HM swears that now that he's just living with us, he'll calm down and mellow out some since he doesn't have to be dealing with 5 dads, 5 moms and everyone's input into everything he does. As HM says, he only has one father now and that should make things easier. Yesterday, and the day before as well, we spent the whole day working on the house and getting things all put together, sorting, unpacking and today I think I am going to work on the yard...
HM was called in to work on this fence with his dad and he's already called me this morning and told me what a horrible mess it was! They are wrought-iron fences that he said are almost completely rotted/rusted out and they are trying to repaint/restore them. Sounds like a whole lot of fun... but at least it's work!
Well I guess I'll go get dressed and get going before it gets too hot to do anything! :) Before the wedding...This is my new cousin-in-law Travis. :) He and his wife, Carrie, were down from Portland, OR so they came to our wedding. Kinda random but whatever. Anyway, I have no idea what he is doing, I wasn't here when the picture was taken but this picture is a crackup!!!
The night before we took the "water taxi" down the river to the Harrah buffet (which everyone told us was the Best, so hey why not).
Before the ceremony, all the girls went and had their nails done:

12 luglio AH! :)Whew, so I got a lot done today! I finally finished MOST of my Master's project. A project I should have finished months ago but just didn't with all the other stuff going on around us. I worked on that all morning and went and turned it in. Which means I only have two more units to go and most of that is done, it's just 4-5 things that I still need to do.
But what I did realize while I was sitting here at this computer all day was this: I have not bought HM a ring yet... that might come in handy don't you think? So today I went out and looked for a ring for him. I went to Zales Jewelry and the ladies there were so funny! I found a ring for him that I liked in like two seconds... his size, his style, whatever and the price was perfect. From there, I said I wanted to LOOK for a ring for me too, the wedding band part, because I was pretty sure HM had not bought me that yet (and he hadn't) so I thought that while I was there I might as well look... and... I found one I liked :) Surprise surprise... and it really wasn't too expensive so I sent HM a message and I was right he hadn't bought one yet so he said I could get it and he would pay me back :) The jewelry ladies were really a hoot though and even found me this really nice heart necklace as well that should go with my dress and gave me a good price and gave me warrentees on everything for free and ya, a good time was had by all... good times....
I guess I can say this, I was debating whether or not to "announce" this, but whatever, we're leaving tomorrow so I guess whatever, right? HM and I are getting married this weekend! AH! With the house and everything we decided to just push up the date to this weekend and just get married in Laughlin, NV. So 4pm Saturday I will get married! AH! I am so excited! HM and I have been counting the days and trying to make all the arrangements and trying to get people who want to come the 411 as they say... :) ha... Little bit of drama there but hopefully nothing scarring... We really want to keep it small and simple but with his family and my family, it's fast going from our parents to his cousin who happens to be in town and and then this other person and this other person and it doesn't matter really to us, we just don't want to keep it small and not have to try to accomodate 50 people... but whatever, at this point, I don't really care, our parents will be there and whatever random people feel like showing up, hey, come on over!
So what else did I do today? I got shoes for my dress, and earrings, and got the rings, some lipgloss the tastes like limeade :) and HM went and got his tux... and I just got off the phone with my friend Brooke and her mom is going to do a bouquet for me that will be ready by tomorrow and ya... I rented a car and now I just need to pack! Crazy huh? 10 luglio Taking up TimeWhew, well, I am moved into the soon to be "our" house. Today the guy came and hooked up the Internet, and for the first time in Bakersfield for me, hooked up Cable as well. We now have 200 channels which includes DVR and this little small box feature where you can watch two channels at once. When I lived by myself, I never had Cable because I never saw the need to have it since I never really used it at all, or missed it. If I needed to watch TV, I could go to HM's house, or anywhere else, which I usually was anyway, so what's the point?
After the guy left, I went through the list of channels and did something that was a little OCD I think: I went through the entire list of channels and crossed off the ones we actually didn't have so we have a real list of channels. I think that is one of my hugest pet peeves: to try to turn to a channel and have it not really be there. Anyway, as I was doing this, looking at EVERY single channel we had, I had this pervailing thought: What a lot of crap I have NOT been missing... and what a horrible waste of time we now have... To a certain degree, I feel I am betraying my profession by having something as mind-numbing as cable TV in my home. :) I think am slightly morally opposed to cable... But, there is DVR, so perhaps it has some redeeming value...
The only cool thing is DVR which allows you to digitally record TV, so you can watch it later and fast forward through the commercials :) This to me is the manifistation of man over commercialism. This is one of those things you would think would have never been invented because it would contradict the almighty dollar of profit and the point of commercials and advertising. I'm surprised they haven't come up with some way this is pirating... or costing someone their livelyhood, because it sure is a good idea for us consumers who have always hated commericials (unless that is it's during the Superbowl).
Anyway, I think I am ALMOST done unpacking boxes. Every time I move I think to myself: Where did I get so much CRAP from??? And I have the urge to just throw it all away instead of packing one more box with useless junk. I come by this naturally as I have seen my family do this MANY times as they moved :) I told HM this and he told me I couldn't throw anything away since I would regret it later. Can't say I didn't try though... I left two boxes in the closet on purpose :) (don't tell) but he found them and made me take them :)
Today has been my first whole day at home and it feels good. Despite all my "junk," I have gone through most of it and through it all, this house is still extraordinarily empty. :) It's a big place and although I'm sure we will soon fill it up, it is very empty right now. It's nice to a degree... If we were Chinese it would be more appropriate but hey, whatever.
Anyway, once again, in case you wondered, I sure love HM. He's such a sweetheart and I love him to death... |
