27 novembre Baby ShowersI get what Baby Showers are for.
1. Bring me presents so I don't have to buy all this crap myself and
2. Old ladies get the opportunity to buy cute little baby clothes, something they haven't done for 20 years.
It's great
But man, I just don't like them
It's corny
It's a waste of time
And they make you do weird things
Today I stayed home from school sick, finally.
Since we got home from Utah I have been so sick
Worse sickness so far...
I came home and slept for about 4 hours this morning
And I woke up feeling so much better
But not that good
Not good enough to go to a shower, that's for sure!
I told HM I would though because it's family and I have to go
We even drove all the way across town to buy a present from her registry at Babies'R'us
(who knew that even existed?)
So wish me luck
I might throw up on the way
But hey, hopefully they'll have some good finger food The problem of LemonsWhat does one do with Lemons?
I'm not talking figuratively here either
We have a lemon tree in our backyard
It's the great thing about California
But it's had a great season
And there are close to 100 lemons on the tree...
Just waiting to be picked...
So uh...
What do you do with lemons exactly?
(besides smell them)
There's the obvious choice
Make Lemonade
Okay, but... then what?
More Lemonade?
Are there any cool things you can cook with Lemons as the main ingredient?
I don't know of any...?
Obviously you can use it as a season...
But what do you do with 100 Lemons???
I researched it a little bit and as far as I can tell, you can't can them
You can't really preserve them at all for any long period of time
Any ideas anyone?
By the way
Anyone need some Lemons?
25 novembre Thanksgiving AdventuresWe made it.
We left at 6:30pm last night and made it back home at 3am this morning.
We have unpacked
Started some laundry
Had a wonderful breakfast of French toast, rolls and bacon (thanks momma!)
Dudey gave Andre a bath--he was SO SO dirty from all his adventures this weekend!!!
Afterwards he CRIED and CRIED for some unknown reason and I had to go sit with him and dry out his ears (that's all I could figure was wrong with him?) until he stopped yelping. Weird, I have never seen him do that!
Anyway, I haven't showered yet
We are so happy to be home--traffic was a lot heavier at 2am than you would expect but I guess we weren't the only ones who had the idea of leaving early. We didn't hit anything major though and made it home in record time--8 hours!
Dudey and Andre slept the whole way cuddled in the (very small) back seat so I think they were the happiest to be home
Everyone had a really good time--even Dudey who did more "firsts" than any other weekend in his life so far I think.
He was a bit burnt when we told him about the no cell phone thing but he survived.
I liked it actually because his phone bugs at times. It's like some adult pacifier that he has to constantly be on and it's like he's in some other media world and not in this one... not good when you're trying to have a conversation with him or get him to participate in this thing called LIFE.
So I wasn't upset about it
So here are some pictures of MOST of the things we did besides the obvious things of course like eat too much
Dudey and HM got to milk a cow:
They each took a side, so here is HM:
And here is Dudey:
(next time remind them to have them turn around so you can see their faces!!!)
Then after a few mninutes, they stepped aside and let the pros milk:
And they just stared at how good they were... and how bad they had been... lol
Andre couldn't figure out what in the world we were doing and kept trying to break in to see:
The next day we got to go haul hay!
We drove to Loa to get it, my parents in the truck and the rest of us piled into our car. We all bundled up and HM and I took our pictures:
We took one and didn't like it so we tried again... and again.... and again... until HM exclaimed, hey this isn't all about you okay? lol...
And we finally got a good one:
We finally got there and pulled up and put the hay on the truck:
First Dudey--we instructed him to do a Power Clean and he did pretty well :)
(he wasn't at all happy about getting hay all over him so that was it for him!) lol...poor city boy...
Then HM did a couple, and had a lot more fun with it than Dudey I think
The thing you learn when you haul hay is that you get hay ALL OVER YOU--inside every part of any clothes you are wearing!
My dad of course is a pro even as an "older man" he can throw with the best of them and everyone else of course also helped
Mostly we just had a good time though.
Both HM and Dudey said they had a great time and for that I am grateful.
J and J--my little sister and her husband--were there on Thanksgiving Day
and so were Nacho and his wife and their baby--who I had never seen
The day after Thanksgiving we had ANOTHER dinner with ST (my sister ST) and her family and I got to see my new neice Lydia--so cute!
Jenny really liked Dudey according to HM and they sat and chatted for awhile before dinner
The first dinner we had 14 people
The second dinner we had 17 people (but littler)
And we didn't even cook any extra food! The second dinner was all leftovers!
We worked on this puzzle for hours but it was hard because we kept having to take it off the table for the dinners and it would get all messed up and and then we would have it put it together again and again.... we had the whole thing done by the time we left except a space at the top.
Dudey, HM and I also got to herd the piglets--a very funny experience!--when they got out. Dudey especially liked that. They are so little! They got out of their pens and we had to herd them back and we did except for one got away and Dudey and I chased that little thing for FOREVER--pigs are fast man! I finally grabbed it when it tried to escape into one of the other pens.
I would say that the FUNNIEST part of the whole trip, something that we are still making jokes about, is what happened AT NIGHT.
The first night, we crashed at my brother Nacho's house: no major events there
The second night, we went down the canyon and stayed at the Days Inn at the bottom of the hill.
At 3am, we were awakened by what sounded like a small puppy crying
and crying
and crying
and crying
Repeating the same sound every 5 seconds
A high pitchd whine and then two cries
for HOURS
and HOURS
HM finally got up and went to the front desk
And conveniently
the lady was "out to lunch"
HM said it was SO LOUD once you got outside
It sounded like it was coming from the room next to us
But really, it was from the floor above us
You could hear it all through the hotel!!!
So we didn't really sleep much for the rest of the night
We turned the TV on and eventually we all fell back asleep
Unfortunately though, that meant we slept in longer than we planned and we missed saying goodbye to J and J--sorry!
We figure that it was actually a couple of cats that were making that sounds and WHY their owners didn't make them SHUT UP is beyond me!
The third night, we stayed at the Grass Valley Inn in Koosharem--the little town by my parent's house
They didn't allow dogs so we left Andre at my parent's and all was well until about 6AM
See, the walls in this motel are very thin
And so you can hear just about everything in the room next to you
Like if they have the TV on for example
...Or if they are talking...
...Or laughing...
Or say... having loud, gross, talkative role-playing sex for hours
LOL
I woke up last
(of the three of us--Dudey was right by the door and heard the whole thing)
and I thought at first that there was a whole bunch of people getting ready to go for the day?
I mean it was LOUD
I heard the lady say:
"I'm going to call the police on you baby"
and I thought, what in the world is going on over there????!!!!
And just then, Dudey kinda sat up and says:
"Is this really happening???"
We all just BUST UP LAUGHING
really loud and we couldn't stop
And it got real quiet next door
HM and Dudey started repeating all the things that they had heard and laughing even harder
I mean we were crying laughing so hard at all the things they had been saying!!!
It was just too funny
After that they got up and took showers and left real quickly
and we tried, as best we could, to go back to sleep.
I think that pretty much clenched our decision to leave Sat. night instead of Sunday morning
Anyway, overall, it was a VERY good Thanksgiving
Thanks to everyone who came--it was so good to see you and be able to spend time with you
We don't get to see everyone very often so it was really nice of all of you to come
Good Times
The ConnectionsIt's funny.I've never been pregnant before and so while in many ways this is old news to many MANY women, it's all new to me.I feel like an explorer who is just discovering that there is another continent and I'm putting my flag down to settle it even though a city already exists there... does that make sense?Anyway, I go to this site called Baby Center and it tells me what is happening this week and it's interesting to connect what is happening to how I feel. I was reading what happened this last week and I thought,Man! That's why I felt so sick!My baby was freaking growing a face and elbows! |
