25 ottobre Big and FatI took these in the waiting room of the Dr.'s office
Waiting for Sadie's three month checkup
She was so happy!
She is now 15 lbs 2 oz
26 1/2 inches long
She thinks chewing on her fist is the greatest thing ever
As you can see from these pictures
And she often stares at her feet and I swear you can hear her thinking:
Hmm...I think I'll try those next....
The weather is getting warmer and my baby has been preparing
Storing up for the winter
Her newest trick is she is trying to sit up
Not much luck so far, but she tries
The best part though
is it's starting to get colder around here
So we can start putting her in her little cute winter clothes:
TIMBER.....!!!
That's what I felt like yelling this morning
We had our gardener come and cut our huge bushes
(after all, he has the nice edger that cuts it all off in two seconds where it would take us HOURS to do the same thing! Good use of money in my opinion since I was the one to cut it down last! those little wispy grass things are like razor blades!)
And now they look so much better
But it looks kinda funny because it looks so bare!
I must say I like this Blog a whole lot better than I do Blogspot
BUT
There is one thing that Blogspot makes easier: VIDEOS!
So we took a few videos of Sadie
But it's so hard to put them up on this thing
So go HERE to view the videos on my Blogspot blog
22 ottobre I'm a terrible Aunt...We were over at HM's parent's house on Sunday
As usual
And I was in the other room when I heard Keiran kinda crying
Everyone was playing games so I went to go investigate
Keiran is learning to crawl really well
And thinks that the stairs are the funnest thing ever
But I think after this experience
He might be a little wary... or at least he should be!
Because when I got into the room
I saw him like this:
And aren't I a horrible aunt?
I ran and got my camera and took a picture before I helped him
So the picture is a bit fuzzy
I had to take it quick
his little fingers were gripped on the stair
and he was wimpering as he got down to a few fingers
and his legs were slipping further and further apart... lol....
You can just see him thinking to himself:
Not good... nope, not good....this could get ugly...
It really is amazing though
That really, in a few years,
Keiran and Sadie will basically be the same age
Even though now
They look very different
She's working on rolling over
He's working on crawling!
Crazy that they aren't even a year apart! 21 ottobre Hockey gameThere have been many times when I have thought to myself:
Should we really be taking our little baby to this?
One such time was the Fair
When after a nice afternoon of looking at animals
It got dark
And suddenly there was MASSES of people there
And Sadie freaked out
Wouldn't take a bottle
Wouldn't stop crying
And we had to take a pit stop so I could feed her
She finally fell asleep on HM for awhile
And finally relaxed
I was stressed though and thought:
note to self: don't take babies to the Fair...
Or rather: Don't take babies to the Fair and stay for hours!
This next situation went a lot better
But here is another note to self:
When taking a baby to a Hockey Game, bring earplugs!
They really help so that the baby doesn't cry and be scared
ST happened to have some that she loaned us
And it was a lifesaver!
The times when the earplugs came out of her ears
She cried like she was scared
And I felt so bad
But when they were in, she was happy
Sat on her daddy's lap and was GREAT!!!
She even slept
So I was a bit stressed throughout
I must admit
But I had a good time!
I really did
And so did Sadie
Everyone commented on what a good baby she was
I think I watched her more than the game
But hey,
Next time we go, I'm sure i'll enjoy it more
13 ottobre Hot and ColdI think Bakersfield may be one of the only places
Where you go to work in 40 degree weather
And come back home in 80 degree weather
And use your heater and your AC in the same day
And really NEED BOTH
Man, it was cold this morning!!!
This morning I was reminded of one of my odd non-talents
Ever think of it that way?
Doesn't it make sense that you would also have "Non-Talents"?
Not things that you are Faults necessarily
But things that for no real reason, you are uncommonly bad at?
I don't know if that makes sense but it makes sense to me
So anyway, one of my NonTalents is reading digital clocks when i'm tired
I can't do it
I have to remind myself that when I am tired
Or just waking up
Digital clocks and my eyes do not get along
Not that I can't focus on the image
I can see it just fine
But my brain doesn't read it right
So for example, this morning, i woke up and it was FREEZING
So I thought that maybe I would turn on the heater
So that by the time HM, Sadie and Dude had to get up, it would be warm
So I go to the thermostat and looked at the temp
It said it was 70 degrees
Huh.... okay, well, I guess I"m just being a wimp then...
So I went and took a shower and got started to get ready
No more than 15 minutes later
when HM got up, he commented how cold it was
And I went and check the thermostat
And HE said that it said 60 degrees
It was still really cold so I don't think it warmed up at all
It's just my eyes don't read digital until they've been awake for awhile
When I was younger, my sister and I had a digital alarm clock
And I don't know how many times
I woke up and started to get ready, thinking I was running late
Non-Talents can be a pain sometimes
But hey... I got my showertime in early baby... I was CLEAN.
This weekend marked the end of an Era
the bishopric at the WOW was released
And it was sad, but good at the same time
I wish I had gotten more pictures
But Sadie was struggling with 6 hours of church in one day
So I spent most of my time walking around with her
So I really only got this picture of the Andersons:
This was my Bishop and his wife for like... 4 years?
And they were my favorite people
They always made me smile and were like psuedo parents in so many ways
I don't think I would make a very good news reporter though
Because I didn't really take pictures of the adults there
I just took a few pictures of the cute kids:
Kieran is getting to be such a little cutie
He's learning how to crawl and he also got two teeth!
Right after I took this picture,
he crawled towards a corner and couldn't figure out how to put it in reverse
and so kinda sat up and knocked over this decorative tree
Which barely missed him when it fell over!
Tigger is such a good cousin
He gets very concerned when Sadie doesn't have her "Me Me" in her mouth
And if I ever leave it anywhere, he always finds it and brings it to me
One must have the Me Me at all times! Very important...
This is him comforting her when she woke up and started to cry--see, no Me Me--that's obviously why she's upset! :)
Sadie doesn't really get the whole Camera thing yet as you can see...
Also, someone I haven't seen in awhile:
My good friend Sonnet! Yesterday I also got to do something that i haven't got to do in awhile:
Take a nap with my little nephen Kieran
It's been awhile and he is ALOT bigger than before
But still so fun to cuddle with: he's such a good sleeper!
10 ottobre If one is good, two is betterThs week is Homecoming at my school
Notice how I am not at the Big Game
But oh well
When you are going through your 10th Homecoming celebration
It loses a it of the luster ya know?
So today the kids had a Rally in the stadium
So I stood around--freezing without a sweater in our new 70s weather :)
And got to actually talk to a few of my friends at school
It's odd how I "work with" all these people
Yet I never really get to see them
So anyway, one of the people I talked to was Dave
HM calls Dave "my best girl-friend"
Not that Dave is gay or anything
But Dave is one of my best friends
We went through BTSA together
And then also took most of our Masters classes together
And now we teach at the same school
Which I transfered to mostly because of him
Dave and I both have our Masters in Administration
But I kinda took a different route in that area
But Dave is now spending his afternoons in the Dean's office
Last week, when Cheryl came at lunch
She told me that there were about 20 police cars parked outside the office
I hadn't heard anything that day but then the portables are pretty far from the office
After school that day
I drove past the office and there were still 3-4 police cars
only they were parked in front of the apartment complex across the street
And the only non-cop I could see was... DAVE!
I texted him and said: "getting arrested again?" :) but he didn't answer
So I heard the story today and it was a pretty good one!
I guess lately the freshmen/sophomore lunch as had a lot of drama
Apprentely some crap started at the Fair
between "the blacks" and "the mexicans"
And so during lunch, there were some fights
But mostly, the boys would take off their shirts
And strut around like peacocks as if it was some kind of prison yard
So that day, I guess there was some fight
And a kid decided that they needed backup
So they text their 20-year-old friend
And asked him to come to school and beat up some kid
So of course, the guy came (being the intelligent person he was)
And since the whole campus is fenced
He had to get through the Admin office
Not sure how all this started
But Dave is in that building
And suddenly he says everyone was like Run run, catch this guy!
So he takes off running, not even knowing what this guy looks like
But he said everyone is running in this direction so he does too
At one point, he realizes that someone is saying:
Dave, dave, stop, this is not a kid, it's an adult!
But it never really registers until he sees who he is chasing and realizes:
This is not a kid, this is a adult black guy!
But he keeps running and thanks to XC, he starts to catch the guy
They get outside the school and the guy takes off for across the street
Heading towards this gated apartment complex
Dave said that suddenly, he was gaining fast on this guy
And started to get scared: what would he do if he caught him??? lol...
So he slowed down a little
To make sure that this guy had some thought in his head that he coudl still get away
So they keep running and get to the fence
Again, Dave hangs back to give the guy the impression that he has time to climb the fence
So he starts to jump over
And Dave caught one leg
Tucked it under his arm, twisted and basiclly sat down with it
(at this point in the story I stopped Dave and said:
WOW, thanks Commando Dave! Where did you learn to do that????)
When the cops got there, they got him handcuffed and everything
And they pull him up and the guy sees Dave
And the cops have them next to each other
And Dave says now that guy is the new laughing stock in Jail
for getting caught by a little white guy half his size in dress shoes
So the Rally ends and we all go back to 2nd period
The kids take awhile to get back but finally everyone is settled down and taking their tests
All is quiet and everyone is working
When all of a sudden, we hear male voices yelling
A few of the heads starting popping up, and we all listen trying to figure out what is going on
Not even 5 seconds later, two of my girls BURST through the door
Laughing so hard they can barely stand up
The whole class looks up and they are still just laughing hysterically as they stagger to their desks
And tell us this story:
They were coming back from the Assembly
Walking back to class when they notice two boys in front of the classroom just beyond mine
The boys are yelling at each other and look like they are about to fight
And as they are watching, getting closer
The one kid takes his shirt off!
(baby oh baby...)
Then, the next second, apprently thinking that hey:
If I am so tough with my shirt off,
I would be even MORE manly and tough, if I took my jeans off
At this point, my girl says: You know how lots of guys wear jeans, then BB shorts and THEN boxers?
Okay....
Well, she says, I guess he probably wanted to just take off his jeans
But instead his BB shorts came off too
(luckily that was all that came off)
so all of a sudden, there is this guy standing there in nothing but boxers
And these two girls
start laughing very loudly and hysterically
The girls said that the other guy was also looking at him like he was nuts
And as far as I can tell: the fight kinda ended there
LOL...
Poor guy! Don't know the kid but man, can't even get into a fight without messing it up! LOL...
08 ottobre The FairWhen I was pregnant,
Sounds so weird
But honestly, I stood in the bathroom getting ready
And daydreamed about the Fair
FOR MONTHS
Seriously
I never really had any cravings to speak of
So this is kinda late
But a couple weeks ago
We finally got to go to the Fair!
Funny too
It's amazing how small this world is
We went there the first time
with ST and D
and D's brother and sister in law and their little girl
HM and I had never met D's brother's family before
or so we thought
They introduced us and I thought:
wow, how do I know her?
She was like 8 months pregnant
Looked pretty uncomfortable
AND so familiar...
"I started your IV in the hospital" she tells me after a second
OH YEAH....
Crazy huh?
Anyway, we took Sadie of course
She wasn't too excited really
We went and saw all the animals
And they were more interested in Sadie
Than the other way around
But that's okay
But did you know
Goat sweaters are all the rage these days?
And man, there's nothing like a bunch of fat pigs to make you happy:
I ate many many corndogs
Had fried zuccini and super good deep pit sandwiches
and saw all kinds of booths and random things
Gotta love the Fair :) 06 ottobre Remind me...Sunday before last
We had HM's friend....
hmmm.... he needs a nickname....
We'll name him... Turkey? lol... Is that offensive? Ya probably
But that's what I feel like calling him a lot of times...
So we'll call him Mr. T :) Don't tell anyone what that's short for K? Shh...
So Sunday before last
Mr. T and his wife and two kids came over for Sunday dinner
Also, HM's other friend, Mr. S came over with his two girls and little boy
(short for sweetheart because he does seem like a sweet hearted man deep down)
Then of course, the whole Irish family came over as well
So we had... let's see if I can get this right:
One 7 year old girl
One 4 year old girl
three 3 year olds: two boys and a girl
a two year old
Then Keiran and Sadie
Talk about STRESS!!!
This herd of children can only be compared to
a swarm of LOCUSTS
Add in that our house really doesn't have any toys to speak of besides rattles and stuffed animals
And then add in that the majority of the adults were playing cards
And you get a herd of children bent on destroying everything
Now I know some of you readers are thinking:
We were over at Lisa and HM's this last summer
I wonder if she thought of our kids as swarming locusts
and she's just not saying it???
Well here's the honest answer: NO, I don't/didn't think that at all
ALL guests at our house this last summer were ANGELS compared to this group!
For example:
They invaded Sadie's room
And I mean invaded in a very real sense
And in about two seconds
they had half the books on the floor
had torn off any dust covers any of them had
yanked up the blinds
Run over the one little girl's toes with the rocking chair
And were pulling random things out of the closet
I mean that happened in the first 10 seconds!
Swarming locusts, I swear
I was shocked to death that little kids could be so destructive in such a short time
Tigger was there too and I finally had to send the other two little boys out
Because Tigger was trying to beat them up
For messing with Sadie's stuff
It was pretty cute actually
And while Tigger can be a handful
Compared to this group
He was a freaking model child
Here are a few pictures I managed to get of them
One of them crawling inside the coffee table
And another of them throwing the decorative pumpkins in the air like kickballs:
CRAZY CRAZY CRAZY
That same night
After the HERD had gone home
We all sat around talking: breathing a sigh of relief in many ways
And watched Keiran, who is starting to pull himself up!!!
YAY for Keiran!
He's getting so big so fast!
Speaking of getting big
So is Sadie!
She can hold her head up really well now:
And of course she has gotten really good at smiling :)
And while she is good at holding her head up now
She also loves to sleep on her stomach now
I think it makes her stomach feel good
So she can actually sleep
But these days we just put her on her tummy
And she'll sleep for 4-5 hours at a time
It's GREAT
Her and Andre are good nappers these days:
She is such a sweet girl
Her shirt here says "I still live with my parents" :)
And notice her hair?
Everyone says it looks red!
My mom has told me that I had kinda red hair when I was a baby too
So I assume it won't last long
her roots are already growing in white-blond
(HM had blond hair too when he was young)
Still so cute....
I've started a new... I dunno, what would you call it?
A hobby?
Hmm... not really... a new... tendency?
See, these days I get up about 4:30am every morning
Between then and 7am I feed Sadie twice
Get ready for school, fix breakfast and pack lunches
So at night, I don't really feel like "going shopping"
And on the weekends, I feel like staying home with Sadie
So I've started to do a lot of Internet shopping
It's nice because this way
I don't have to worry about hauling Sadie around
Or having her need to go home or be hungry
Or have to go somewhere
Or needing to start dinner
I can just do it on my own
And for example, Walmart has this thing where if you order something online, you can just send your item to the store instead of having to pay for shipping.
So when it arrives, they email you, you print the email, walk in, pick up the item, and walk out
EASY
No waiting in lines, no wandering around buying more than you intended ;)
it's great
So my latest thing is I bought a bunch of frames
And I now have a whole wall for family pictures
And so I bought two sets of frames with 10 frames in each
Thinking that would be plenty
But no... I think I need to order another one
Do you realize, that if you had simply ONE picture
of JUST our immediate family members
(siblings and parents)
That's 14 pictures???
then add in grandparents...18 pictures....
then when you start putting in neices and nephews
gruop pics of all the cousins...
pics of Sadie and Dudey....
it's kinda crazy
This is what it looks like so far:
the pink papers are labels for pics i am still trying to get
so if i don't have your family's picture yet
just know
you are currently represented by a pink post-it
with your name scrawled on it |
