21 gennaio Hot PocketsI had to steal this from the Great Pretender to show you because this is freaking hysterical:
17 gennaio News12 gennaio The Wonderful World of Soccerwell Soccer season is in full swing around here
Although why anyone every decided to have it in the middle of the winter is beyond me!
And HM, his dad, his brother CH and ST's boyfriend D are all reffing
It's a funny time of the year
They all get together and talk about all their games
About who beat who and can you believe... whatever
A couple stories I thought were funny though:
D was refing a game between FHS (where I used to teach) and GHS
GHS is a private catholic school
But has a rep of being a student body of both rich kids,
And trouble makers whose parents had the money to send them to private school
once they got expelled from public school
So they are on the whole more prissy than your average
But mostly just their parents have money and they do whatever
Anyway
So a GHS player and FHS player collide and fall to the ground
They get up kinda upset and the FHS girl kinda pushes the other a bit getting up
Then the other girl kinda shoves back
And even at this point, D said it wasn't even like it was confrontational or anything
The FHS girl responds by straight
Punching the other girl in the face right there
D said it was like watching a tree fall--the GHS girl just fell straight back
HA!
D gave the FHS girl a red card and she got expelled from the game, the next one
He said it was the most random thing!
That's crazy!
The next one was also D's game
He said one girl goes running down the field on a break away
So it's just between her and goalie
The ball is about a foot in front of her and she goes to kick it
Just as the goalie decides to make a dive for it
D said she made a miraulous save and got the ball
But in the same instant that the girl was about to kick it
So she became the ball
And so the girl's foot and her connected just right
So she didn't really get kicked so much
As catapulted
somersaulting through the air
landing on her face
She came up with a mouthfull of dirt
and staggering like a drunk :)
D insisted that she needed to leave the game and go sit down
No I'm fine! she kept protesting
As she's staggering all over and looking delerious
D finally told her,
Look, you can come back in if you want, but you need to go sit down for a bit
She came back a little later and was fine
But said thanks to D for making her leave
Despite her protests
Funny stuff...I mean, not really funny, but funny bizarre
Anyway, gotta run! 10 gennaio AmazingHM's family is interesting
It's nice in some ways because it's different from mine
But irritating in other ways because it's different than mine
One thing that is interesting is his mother's side of the family
Who CONSTANTLY visit
For example
His grandpa--his mother's parents
Decided to drive up from Texas to visit
For almost two weeks
Just because
So because THEY are here
The other sister decided she would come for a week too
Just because
She'll be here Sunday
Then HER daughter and her family decide to come too
So she takes off 5 days of work
And they are coming... tonight I think
Then the brother and his wife
(thank goodness there are only 3 kids!)
Decide they will come too
Now you may be thinking:
Yes, but that is so nice for the family to get together
IT IS
But at the same time...
They did this no less than 6 months ago
And then several months before that
And a bit before that
Travis and Keri--the other child of the other sister
Came down from OREGAN
Just because
(and they ended up attending our wedding)
So every oh... 3 months
20 people come to just hang out
And stay for weeks
It's cool
I just feel bad for his parents
Because they have to feed 20+ people for a week!
HA!
04 gennaio Random ReportsWe juiced the lemons today
Two boxes full of them
And after about...2 hours of juicing
We finished them all
And were left with
FOUR GALLONS
of pure concentrated lemon juice!
We strained the juice
Put it all in ice cube trays (many of them)
and then we'll put them all in a bag in the deep freeze
That way we'll be able to store them
And still be able to break things off and measure them
Thanks for all the suggestions
I thought about the one-cup portions in baggies and then quickly ruled that out when we had enough to fill a whole box of baggies in a half hour...
And I'm sure we'll have plenty to make all kinds of recipes soon
You talk about having a year's supply of food....
Is lemon juice a part of that? lol...
HM and I are currently reading Ken Follett's
Pillars of the Earth
![]() This is the book I got for him,
but then he said he had already read it
So I got him another one
And turns out he REALLY HADN'T read this one
So we are reading it together
We're maybe...100 pages into it
And there is like 1000
but it's way good so far...
...That is if you can get through the first chapter
Where his wife dies in childbirth
In the middle of the forest at night
by bleeding to death
While her two small children look on, crying
And the father holds her while she dies
And THEN the father abandons the baby on her grave!!!
HM and I were BAWLING
And when he left the baby
We were both like WHAT?????!!!!
And decided to read the end of the chapter and then quit
If this was the kind of book it was going to be
We were both mad about it
But it was okay
That is the first chapter
So don't feel like I am ruining anything
Really good so far
And I'm here typing so I won't read ahead while HM is gone...
Today was a weird day
It was windy, grey and scary all day
Finally about five, it rained a little
But mostly it blew so hard
it looked like there was fog
from all the dust
Big huge tumbleweeds would come out of nowhere
And attack cars on the road
Who knew that those even existed around here????
I've been watching our trees out back all day and thinking:
What would happen if those fell over?
Thankfully it hasn't happened yet
We spent all day inside though
It really has been creepy today!
We juiced the lemons
I made strawberry lemonade--Dudey and HM liked it but I didn't think it was that great
And I put some stuff in the crockpot in the morning and we ate by 5
It is called Double Stuffed Potato Soup
And it was AMAZINGLY good
Makes my mouth water just thinking about it!
Anyway, my internal timer tells me it has been two hours since my last intake of food
It's the new thing for me
I have to eat every two hours
Or I get sick
At least now I have a choice I guess, right?
But it makes me feel like all I ever do is EAT
Granted I never eat that much at all in any of my...8 meals a day
But still
It's been 3.5 hours since I had a major dinner
and hour and a half since HM fed me a brownie
And 45 minutes since I ate some M&Ms while HM read to me
I think it's time for an apple... or maybe more soup...
03 gennaio Christmas CardsSo I have a question:
What do you do with Christmas Cards
Once Christmas is over???
Put them all in a scrapbook and save them forever???
...Right....
So really, any good ideas?
Use them for decorations next year???
Save them until you throw them away next year?
Or just throw them away? Baby UpdateI haven't done these lately and she's already 13 weeks!
so here is
WEEK #13
AKA Why I am finally wearing Maternity Clothes
She's alive!!!They found her heartbeat finally
I had another doctor's appointment last week for that specific purpose
My doctor was out of town so I went to this other guy in the office
Just as we got there, the nurse tells us
He'll be in in a minute--he just got called to deliver a baby
Now I've never actually delivered a baby before
But I know that they usually don't take "just a minute"
Ya
TWO HOURS LATER
the doctor showed up
HM came with me and he said it was a good thing too so he could be there to help keep me calm
I was kinda mad, and hot and hungry after two hours of waiting!
Anyway, he finally shows up
And he felt my stomach for a second, seemed to find what he was looking for
Put the dopler thing right where his finger was and said: That's the heartbeat
I mean it took him all of 5 seconds to find it
It was fast and strong and I was SO EXCITED
HM cried (isn't that sweet!?)
She's ALIVE!
I was relieved--it's odd to say but it's nice to know there is something there and all this isn't just an imaginary thing
On that same note, I finally bought maternity clothes!
The last week or so I have just been really uncomfortable
But I didn't really realize it
Sounds funny, but I really didn't think about it
Until I mentioned something to HM right before we were about to go out
That I just feel that all I can wear is my sweats these days...
I wore my jeans and the shirt my mom gave me for Christmas for New Year's
(love the shirt by the way momma)
And by the end of the night, my stomach just HURT where my jeans were
And I spent most of the night feeling sick, even though I've felt much better lately
So when I mentioned that I wasn't feeling very "pretty" lately
He suggested we go get me some clothes, and use CR gift card?
I was reluctant honestly
I don't feel that pregnant yet
But nothing really fits that well anymore!?
So we went and mostly tried on pants
The first outfit I tried on I was SHOCKED
I felt SO SO SO MUCH BETTER!!!!
Why hadn't I done this sooner???
So we bought some pants
And one shirt because the shirts weren't that cute at this store
The store ladies kinda freaked out that I wanted that one too
Because it was a nursing shirt
But it was the only cute one
And we both were like, what? You think we won't need one of those someday????
Anyway, I finally have some maternity clothes
And I feel much more normal
